Highlights
Call schedule

We use a float month system of call. Each resident has one float basic assignment each year, limited to call responsibilities. There is some additional weekend calls. Teleradiology is used during this rotation.

Fellowships

There are no radiology fellows at UT, therefore, residents work one-on-one with attendings and patients for a personalized education with hands-on experience.

Facilities and Equipment

The clinical facilities include the University Medical Center and the St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center for a combined facility of over 800 beds. As a resident, you will spend approximately half time at each institution. Diagnostic radiology facilities at UT include modern equipment for routine radiologic procedures, mammography, ultrasonography, computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging. There are three state of the art angiography suites. 16 Detector CT, 3.0 T MR 1.5 T Open Bore MR, Tera Neon Worstations. Between our two teaching hospitals, three use 6 CT scanners and 4 MR.

Radiology Teaching Library

A modern secure library with the latest texts and teaching files is available at each hospital. Computers are dedicated for resident and student use for research, Power Point presentations, teaching files and review courses. Full network and web access is provided.

Lectures and Conferences

Medical physics classes are conducted one afternoon each week for residents to convene for didactic lecture and physics for over 140 hours of planned broad-based curriculum. Visiting professors add breadth to the educational experience six times a year. In addition, there are noon conferences twice per week dedicated to reviewing varied pathology available at the University Medical Center and one afternoon conference at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, and a weekly joint conference at UT, which includes a monthly Journal Club. Total weekly conference time totals nine to ten hours.


Research
Research projects are encouraged and aid is given toward their completion and publication. Expenses to meetings are covered for senior authored paper presentations. A dedicated photographer is also provided. Each resident is expected to complete 2 projects during his/her 4 years.

Board Examination
Upon successful completion of our four year program, every resident is eligible for the examination for certification by the American Board of Radiology. Our program has an outstanding record of success on both written and oral board of examinations.

Exercise Facility
Access to Morse Fitness Center, providing use of swimming pool and tennis courts.
