Welcome

At the Health Science Campus Office of Student Life (OSL), we realize that co-curricular activities are important to create well-rounded health care providers and medical researchers. To make this possible, we allow student organizations to make most of their own decisions about student-sponsored activities, using OSL for guidance and resources.  Accordingly, each organization's student leaders and advisors must accept partial responsibility for decision-making as well as for the inherent risk associated with these decisions--which is excellent experience for the future.

The purpose of OSL is to uphold its mission statement by supporting student organizations and their activities. The office is located in Room 121 on the first floor of the Mulford Library Building. Our specific responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining membership records, constitutions, by-laws and updated rosters
  • Serving in an advisory capacity to assist with activities/programs, expenditures, and budget procedures
  • Sponsoring training sessions, officer meetings and a student recognition ceremony
  • Sponsoring and co-sponsoring interdisciplinary special events
  • Assisting organizations in applying for additional funding for new or innovative activities/programs
  • Working with the Student Life Advisory Committee (SLAC) to develop policies which regulate student organizations
  • Allocating funding to organizations for activities and programs
  • Distributing information on how to get things done on campus
  • Assisting students in forming recognized organizations
  • Providing forms listed in the Student Organization Handbook
  • Maintaining the online Academic and Student Activites Events Calendars
  • Maintaining student organization web pages
  • Distributing information regarding student events
  • Managing all reimbursements and purchase orders for student organizations and events
