With more than 5500 pages of health content, the site contains articles written by physicians for patients and consumers. Each article is reviewed by 2 physicians and a PharmD. Current medical information is available in the Health Resource, First Aid and Emergencies, and Lifestyle and Wellness Centers.

All of the information at this site has been written and reviewed by physicians and patient education professionals at the American Academy of Family Physicians The information is regularly reviewed and updated.

Healthfinder
A free gateway to reliable consumer health and human services information developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. healthfinder. can lead you to selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as the government agencies and not-for-profit organizations that produce reliable information for the public.

HealthWeb
A collaborative project of the health sciences libraries of the Greater Midwest Region (GMR) of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) and those of the Committee for Institutional Cooperation.

HealthOntario.com
A good Canadian consumer health site created by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care. This "site contains thousands of pages of original content, health assessment tools, health and medical information" and additional Canadian specific health information.

Household Products Database
This database links over 4,000 consumer brands to health effects from Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) provided by the manufacturers and allows scientists and consumers to research products based on chemical ingredients.

Mayo Clinic Health Oasis
Your source of reliable health information from Mayo Clinic. This site is directed by a team of Mayo physicians, scientists, writers and educators. We update Mayo Clinic Health Oasis each weekday to bring you the most relevant health information.


National Institutes of Health: Health Information

National Women's Health Information Center (NWHIC)
A service of the Office on Women's Health in the Department of Health and Human Services. The NWHIC provides a gateway to the vast array of Federal and other women's health information resources.
Includes a nice page with information and links for Men's Health as well.

NetWellness
A non-profit consumer health web site that provides high quality information created and evaluated by medical and health professional faculty at the: University of Cincinnati, Case Western Reserve University and The Ohio State University.

NIHSeniorHealth.gov
This site was developed by the National Insitute on Aging (NIA) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM) for seniors. It includes sound and topics relevent to older adults such as arthritis, balance problems and exercise for older adults. The text can be heard when activating the "turn speech on" button then clicking on the text. Also included on the site is a button for enlarging the text.

NOAH (New York Online Access to Health)
NOAH seeks to provide high quality full-text health information for consumers that is accurate, timely, relevant and unbiased. NOAH currently supports English and Spanish.

Oncolink
A site produced by the Abramson Cancer Center of the University of Pennsylvania to give the general public accurate cancer-related information.

Symptom Scout
This site is an interactive symptom checker that guides the user through symptoms and possible causes. The questions and answers have been developed by doctors at the Harvard Medical School

Toll-Free Numbers for Health Information: Selected toll-free numbers of organizations providing health-related information, education, and support. Compiled by the National Health Information Center (NHIC), Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Washington, DC.

Toll-Free Numbers from the National Library of Medicine: This online database of health-related organizations operating toll-free telephone services is compiled by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). It also includes information on services and publications available in Spanish.


UpToDate Patient Resource Center
The UpToDate clinical information service is a cooperative effort of more than 2,900 expert physicians and researchers from outstanding academic centers around the world, and it is an official program of seven major medical associations. Started over ten years ago, the UpToDate service is a leading resource for practicing physicians seeking the latest information on medical disorders [and] is now offering articles written for patients. These have been adapted from our physician content to help patients and their families understand their medical condition and treatment options
