    PIER (Physicians Information and Education Resource), produced by the American College of Physicians, is a collection of evidence-based, clinically geared guidelines. The site can be browsed by disease, organ system, screening/prevention, procedures, ethical/legal issues, and complementary/alternative medicine. 

    Bandolier - "Evidence based thinking about health care"

    Bandolier (maintained by the Pain Research Unit at the University of Oxford) distills evidence-based medicine techniques from PubMed and Cochrane to provide advice about particular treatments for healthcare professionals and consumers. This freely available content may be accessed through the Knowledge Library, the monthly journal, extra essays, and the Oxford Pain Internet Site.

    Best Practice of Medicine

    Sponsored by Merck Medicus for clinical reference and patient information. Professional articles are arranged within fourteen practice areas. Information includes: briefs (clinical action points) with links to the full reports, evidence highlights (strongly supported clinical recommendations), and breaking clinical news and alerts. Patient handouts are arranged alphabetically.

    Cochrane Library

    This resource is restricted to faculty, residents, staff, and students who are registered with the Mulford Library. The "best single source of reliable evidence about the effects of health care." Updated regularly and includes these databases:
    - Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
    - Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE)
    - Cochrane Controlled Trials Register
    - Cochrane Methodology Register
    - NHS Economic Evaluation Database
    - Health Technology Assessment Database
    - Cochrane Database of Methodology Reviews (CDMR)
    A quick help guide and demonstration of the Cochrane Library are available.

    Evidence-Based Medicine Tool Kit

    A collection of tools for identifying, assessing and applying relevant evidence for better health care decision-making based on the work of the Evidence Based Medicine Working Group. The site contains in-depth search strategies for finding EBM articles and guides to using them.

    Netting the Evidence

    A massive list of EBM resources on the Web compiled by Andrew Booth of the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR) of the University of Sheffield, UK. Includes a set of self-assessment exercises for users of the site and a link to current EBM articles in MEDLINE.

    Evidence-Based Health Care Resources on the Internet

    Compiled by the Medical Library Association, this site includes many links to EBM resources. Includes EBM tutorial sites, organizations and journals, search filters, journals, practice guidelines, and systematic reviews.

    Evidence-Based Practice and Guidelines

    The University of Washington maintains this list of links to EBM resources. The site has links to finding tools, definitions, glossaries, calculators, and evidence-based medicine research.

    Users' Guides to Evidence-Based Practice (Centre for Health Evidence)

    The Centre for Health Evidence in Edmonton maintains a full set of the prepublication versions of the articles in JAMA's Users' Guides to the Medical Literature series. Mulford also has access to Users' Guides Interactive through our JAMA subscription. To access UGI through JAMA, access the web site through the online catalog. From the JAMA page, click on the Users' Guides to the Medical Literature link on the right side of the page. 

    Navigating the Maze: Obtaining Evidence-Based Medical Information

    This site includes a wealth of information on how to retrieve EBM articles from MEDLINE. Includes useful Medical Subject Headings, subheadings, and publication types to use in searching MEDLINE. The site also links to three of the many worldwide Cochrane Centres.

    Core Library for Evidence-Based Practice

    Includes many links to EBM articles on basic statistics for clinicians, systematic reviews, meta-analysis, how to read a paper, understanding controlled trials, and getting research into practice.

    TRIP (Turning Research into Practice) Database

    A meta-search engine that provides direct, hyperlinked access to a large collection of high quality evidence-based medicine materials. Journals included are BMJ, JAMA, and the New England Journal of Medicine.
