“More than 1,001 community-based physicians serve as community medical faculty members to physicians in training. They commit countless hours and actively share knowledge to ensure that medical students and residents at The University of Toledo receive the highest quality education,” says Jeffrey P. Gold, MD, UT Provost and Executive Vice President for Health Affairs and Dean of the College of Medicine.
“These young people’s futures are truly in their hands.”

Community medical faculty members in the UT College of Medicine provide real-life experiences to future health-care providers that are critical to developing crucial analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

“As physician educators, these professionals challenge our students and provide information in a manner that can be clearly understood and flawlessly applied,” he explains. Community medical faculty members don’t serve future physicians in this role to gain prestige or riches. They do it because they’re committed to the future of health-care in northwest Ohio.

“We truly believe our students are being taught in a world-class learning environment by the best physicians in the area,” Dr. Gold concludes. “The UT College of Medicine is only able to provide its high caliber of teaching with their continued commitment to our classroom and bedside education.”
