Creole (chiefly in New Orleans area)] - A little something extra; A bonus; Something
unexpected; A small gift of appreciation given a customer by a merchant at the
time of a purchase, e.g., The 13th doughnut in a baker's dozen. Lagniappe breeds
good will, friendship and most importantly, return business. Also, Lagniappe
is the name of the entertainment pull-out section of the Friday edition of The
New Orleans Times-Picayune.
